Mohave Middle School Math and Science Academy: Unlock a World of Innovation!

Welcome to the new Math and Science Academy at Mohave Middle School, a dedicated program designed to ignite young minds and cultivate a passion for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). Modeled after the prestigious Math and Science Academy at Saguaro High School, this program ensures a seamless transition for students who aspire to excel in these critical disciplines. 

  • Beginning in the 2025-2026 school year, the Scottsdale Math & Science Academy (MSA) will expand to Mohave Middle School, providing innovative STEM opportunities for students in grades 6-8.
  • This initiative is modeled after the successful MSA at Saguaro High School, fostering a passion for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) and equipping students with essential skills for a technology-driven world.

STEM Learning Experiences

  • Mohave Middle School is progressing towards becoming a Cognia STEM Certified school.
  • The curriculum will integrate STEM thinking across various subjects and activities, utilizing a project-based and real-world approach to education.
  • Innovation Center offers a space for engaging in collaborative projects and individual explorations, equipped with cutting-edge technology and resources for robotics, coding, 3D printing and more.  

STEM Scholar Distinction Program

All students at Mohave will have the opportunity to strive for STEM Scholar distinction within the MSA. To achieve this recognition, students must complete the MSA application and fulfill specific requirements by the spring of their 8th grade year.

Students can accomplish various recognition levels through:

  • Completion of designated number of  STEM elective courses
  • Participation in extracurricular STEM activities
  • Attendance at relevant STEM events
  • Community service involvement
  • Maintenance of a portfolio documenting their learning experiences and achievements

Inclusive Opportunities for All Students:
  • While the program is designed for MSA participants, it also provides an open forum for all Mohave students to benefit from academic and enrichment opportunities.
Accelerated Pathways for Gifted and Advanced Learners:
  • Gifted and advanced students will have access to accelerated coursework and opportunities to earn high school credit while in middle school.
Seamless Transition to Saguaro High School:
  • Students excelling in Mohave's STEM environment will transition smoothly into Saguaro's nationally recognized MSA program.
  • The high school Math and Science Academy sets students on a path to success in college and future careers, providing access to internships and partnerships with universities and STEM industries.
