Preschool & Pre-K
Welcome to Scottsdale Unified School District's office of Community Education & Early Learning
For the 2025-2026 School Year
For the 25-26 school year, the enrollment process starts in January. Enrollment for Preschool/ Pre-K is separate for enrollment for students in K-12.
On January 6 - prospective families can complete a google form to express interest in a school. The google form will close on Jan. 15 at 10:00pm. It doesn't matter when you fill it out within this window. The link to the google form will be posted here on Jan. 6th.
When the google form closes, we will use SUSD Early Learning Priority Enrollment Groups to determine who may secure a spot for next year. Enrollment is not guaranteed even if a family falls into one of these categories.
After the google form closes, we will notify families by Jan 18 to let them know if they have secured a spot or have been placed on the waitlist. Parent who have secured a spot will receive directions for next steps and will make an appointment to finalize enrollment at our enrollment event on Saturday Jan. 25th.
For the 25-26 school, we have scheduled classroom visits for prospective families to visit the classrooms, learn about our programs, curriculum, tuition, and enrollment process. Parents can sign up to visit our pre-school & pre-k classes here -https://forms.gle/vrBkSW9ZUTpn2rhm8

Gifted Cluster Pre-K classes
Kiva, Redfield and Tavan offer gifted cluster Pre-K classes. The cluster model offers the best of both worlds - a developmental learning environment with typical peers and small group interactions with like-minded peers. Families of incoming Pre-K students may have their child participate in gifted testing. The Wechsler Preschool & Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI-IV) is administered by an SUSD school psychologist. Please call Community Education - 480-484-7900 for information on how to sign up for testing.
The goal with our cluster classes is to include students who have been identified as gifted with typical peers within the same class.
- Grouping: Gifted children are "clustered" together in a class. We strive for at least 5 students (20% of the class) who have been identified as gifted. Some years we exceed that, some years we have far fewer students who have been identified as gifted.
- Teaching methods: Strategies that encourage critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving.
- Socialization: Opportunity for gifted children to interact with intellectual peers.
- Early identification: Helps recognize and nurture giftedness from an early age.
The cluster model also prepares eligible students for the Comprehensive Gifted Program (CGP) that begins in Kindergarten and is also housed at Kiva, Redfield, & Tavan.
